Orchid's 3 Top Retail Tips for Christmas.

06/12/2017

The countdown to Christmas has well and truly begun.  As consumers gear up for Christmas 2017, retailers are under increasing pressure to ensure that their shelves remain stocked to cope with the constant consumer demand that this time of year brings. For brands, the challenge is to find a way to cut through the clutter to entice consumers during the most significant period in the retail calendar.

Orchid Field Marketing has been helping brands and retailers to successfully navigate the Christmas blizzard, and have 3 top tips for brands and retailers in the lead up to Christmas.

Deck the Shelves.

Full, frequently restocked, shelves are every consumer's wish. According to the recent ShopperVista survey in the UK, only 23% of shoppers planned to spread the bulk of their shopping across many different trips throughout November and December, and 22% of shoppers will carry out multiple trip just before Christmas.  The pressure is on retailers and brands to work with their field teams to ensure the shelves are stocked and consumers don’t have to be faced with the all to familiar “out of stock” disappointment that this time of year can bring.

Discount Delight

With the economic uncertainty that Brexit brings, consumers will be looking to make their pound go that much further. Not only will shoppers be making multiple trips, across a number of stores, it is expected that 25% of shoppers will be looking for discounted offers for food this Christmas. Nearly 50% believe that discounters offer quality products. So if you can offer value and quality, and communicate this fact clearly you will be onto a winning streak.

Pantomime Treat

It is, after all, the time of year where telling stories have a resurgence. With brands vying for consumers’ attention, what better way to differentiate themselves than some light- hearted in-store theatre that adds to the festive spirit. In-store entertainment not only brings home some of the magic, it entices consumers into buying that impulse gift.

With these tips to help, have a wonderfully prosperous retail Christmas!
