EFMP Swiss partner launch Costa Coffee into the Swiss market.

16/05/2022

EFMP Swiss partner, USP Partner, have once again been entrusted by Coca Cola HBC, the franchised bottler of The Coca Cola Company and the largest company in the non-alcoholic beverage industry in Switzerland, to launch the well-established and much-loved Costa Coffee brand into the Swiss market.

Costa Coffee was established in London in 1971 and is world renowned for its signature trademark blend of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans that give it a naturally sweet, smooth and distinct flavour. At the beginning of Spring 2022, Costa Coffee range of products became available for purchase at Coop, which is the most significant retailer in Switzerland.

It was therefore imperative that the launch of Costa Coffee, would ensure that the brand and its range of products, which includes their flavoursome capsules, expertly roasted beans, and great tasting, ready-to-drink-portfolio of iced coffees, become a trusted coffee brand for the Swiss consumer.

To achieve this, USP Partners once again displayed their creative flare and superb attention to detail by setting up a pop-up coffee shop staged on the concourse of the largest and busiest train station of Switzerland, in Zurich main station, at the start of March 2022. The shop marked the official launch of Costa Coffee in Switzerland, and featured a newly converted Coffee Truck as the centrepiece in a stylish coffee lounge that included art deco elements together with original phone booths, giving it a highly on-trend atmosphere and creating a unique and memorable coffee experience. The converted truck contained a portafilter machine that was operated by trained Baristas, who served quality coffee, perfectly prepared, including elaborate latte art as a finishing touch. Visitors were also able to see for themselves the capabilities of the equipment and the quality of the coffee prepared at two Costa Coffee vending machines, the so-called Costa Express. Over the course of the three-day campaign the team served over 1,000 cups of coffee a day.

In addition to the stylish coffee lounge, USP Partner also organised a high-frequency mass sampling with distinct branding elements across multiple touch points throughout the busy station, maximising the high footfall of the location and reaching and engaging with 23,000 new consumers.

The activation created a tremendous buzz with the busy commuters, and firmly positioned Costa Coffee as a viable and appealing brand for their daily coffee fix.

The team at USP Partners did an exceptional job in managing every detail of this activation from start to finish. Not only did they conceptualise the campaign and design all the branding, but they also meticulously implemented and managed all aspects  including the recruitment, selection and training of the  of the baristas and the promotional team. USP Partner  once again showcased their expert knowledge of the Swiss market and their sheer craftmanship in delivering every facet of a world-class activation.
